Crisis planning in the Australian accommodation industry

BOA NSW has been approached by Dr. Brent Ritchie and Ms Jie Wang, from the University and Queensland, and Mr Guy Bentley from the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School.

They are undertaking a nation-wide research to evaluate the current level and nature of crisis planning by managers in the Australian accommodation industry, and to identify factors that influence crisis planning behaviour. This study will also provide insights which can be used for future industry training, and offer suggestions to accommodations interested in improving their crisis readiness strategies.

As a part of this research they are conducting a 15 minute survey. They are interested in surveying all sorts of individuals, including owners, CEOs, executive committee members, regional managers, area managers, general managers and managing directors, as well as departmental heads (such as HR managers or rooms division manager etc.) working in the accommodation industry.

All fully completed surveys are eligible to receive a complimentary Crisis Management Review sponsored by RiskLogic Pty Ltd. (*Conditions apply, please see below). The total value of these prices will be up to $5000.

Consent - Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and you are free to withdraw at anytime.  Completion and submission of the survey is accepted as an indication of your consent to participate.

Confidentiality - This is an anonymous survey.  All responses will be strictly confidential and will not be accessible to anyone other than the research team.

   * Conditions.  The winning organisation will receive a complimentary Crisis Management Review.  If the winning organisation is of less than 250 employees, a Self Assessment Tool will be offered to enable them to assess their level of Business Continuity and Crisis Management preparedness. If the winning organisation is of more than 250 employees a Crisis Management Review will be offered. The Crisis Management Review will be scheduled according to the availability of RiskLogic staff to undertake the review.  RiskLogic will conduct the Review at the selected organisation’s premises if they are located in a major capital city, excluding Perth and Darwin.  If the selected organisation is located elsewhere (including Perth or Darwin), the Review will be conducted by telephone. A report of recommendations will be provided in electronic format.
