BOA itself is not a regulatory body nor is a business feasibility consulting body – our mission to provide a united voice for our backpacker operators and address common issues.

If you are thinking of opening a backpacker hostel, a good place to start is the Local Council as many regulations are Council-specific.

If you are after backpacker industry statistics,  you may want to check Tourism New South Wales Corporate website, Tourism Research Australia, Australian Bureau of Statistics, and TNT Magazine’s Backpackers Uncovered surveys.
