BOA itself is not a regulatory body nor a business feasibility consulting body our mission is to provide a united voice for our backpacker operators and address common issues.

If you are thinking of opening a backpacker hostel, a good place to start is the Local Council as many regulations are Council-specific.

If you are after backpacker industry statistics, you may want to check Destination New South Wales, Tourism Australia, Tourism Research Australia,  Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Small Scale Accommodation Survey.
