About BOA
BOA NSW is the industry association for professionals and businesses in the backpacker sector of the tourism industry in NSW and the ACT.
We are a not-for-profit organisation, directed by a membership elected executive committee. Committee members come from all sector of the industry, which ensures broad representation.
Our members are accepted into one of the three membership categories: Hostel Business (sub-divided according to number of beds), Other Backpacker Businesses (sub-divided according to number of employees) and Associate/Non-Voting (for industry suppliers and other stakeholders). All members are required to comply with the Code of Conduct and Objects and Rules.
BOA has over 100 members from Regional NSW and Sydney. BOA members are individuals, small, medium and large operators from all sectors of the industry including accommodation providers, travel agents, tour operators, transport providers, media publishers, communication providers and entertainment organisers.
What BOA does:
- Works to raise the profile and reputation of the backpacker industry in NSW and the ACT.
- Lobbies State and local government on issues relevant to the industry.
- Develops and enhances services available to backpacker operators.
- Acts as a spokesperson for the industry.
- Provides a calendar of networking opportunities, to promote a co-operative and harmonious relationship between backpacker operators.
- Lobbies the Federal Government through the Backpacker Tourism Advisory Panel, a sub-committee of ATEC.
- Distributes information of assistance to members through its e-newsletter Directions.
